It has unique features of its own and is extremely accessible to other tourist spots such as the Mines View Park and Baguio Cathedral.
Popularly called as the “Pool of Pines”, the Wright Park has a majestic and fascinating collection of pine trees. Travelers should have their cameras ready because every angle of the park provides a scenic and enticing view. The park has a man-made lake that is shaped in a rectangular form surrounded by a spectacular line of pine trees. The park remains extremely attractive at night with the beautiful streetlights that allow tourists to glimpse its attractive flowers. Igorots are often found around the park where visitors usually buy native handicrafts, souvenir items, and silver accessories sold by the Igorots. Igorots at the park are usually more than happy to accommodate visitors who want to take pictures with them in their complete Igorot attire or costume.
Horseback riding is one of the main activities of the park. Visitors will need to walk through a stairway located at the center of the site in order to reach the area where they can ride horses. Parents should have nothing to worry about as the safety of their children is assured when riding horses. Two different areas of the park are designated accordingly with one for running ponies and the other for walking them.
The horse guides at the park are skilled and accredited horse riders that guide each horse upon the rider’s demand. Riders can just focus on the surroundings of the park and not have to worry about maneuvering the animal. Horse riders provide all means to assure the safety of all horse riders especially with the beginners. Children are usually accompanied by skilled horse guides to completely guarantee their safety.
With horseback riding a common activity in Baguio City, it has become less expensive to ride around Wright Park than in other tourist sites around the city. A fare of 300 pesos per hour or 150 pesos for half an hour is charged to rent the horse at the park. There are over 200 horses to choose from that greatly vary in size, color and shape. Tourists can also ask guides to accompany them to other places in the city such as the Mansion and the Mines View Park by use of their horses. For the more adventurous ones, you can request to ride a horse to explore the mountain and hills of the Cordillera region for a day.
With the amazing line of pine trees and horse backing riding activities, Wright Park is certainly one of the most exciting tourist sites in the city of Baguio. For a relaxing and memorable vacation in the city, travel to Baguio is incomplete without a visit to this park.
